Club History

Bisley Football Sports Football Club was formed in 1965, primarily as a Football Club. Orginally the club only catered for one men's team. The home games were played on Burymead Park, ground maintained by Surrey Heath Council. From foundation, the club were members of the Surrey Intermediate league, where the football was played with a modicum of sucess.

During the 1990's, the club moved to its base at Lion Park, Churcha Lane Bisley. This site had originally been for decades the location of a local company's sports and social club, but with the demise of the company, it was sold to a local businessman, Mr Pearce. An agreement was reached between Mr Pearce and Bisley Sports Football Club, for the long term use of the facility to house the football club.

It was at the time of the re-homing of the club, a change of team management was also made and a move to the Hellenic Football League, which encompased a much wider and varied range of football clubs.

At this stage the senior reserves side was formed. It was during the change of management in the 1990's  that the then club committee invited a junior side to join the club. A junior club committee was formed and a junior structure instigated.

Over the years from the instigation, the junior committee had become more and more devoid of the overall club, and although they had brought in a further three junior football sides, there was no interaction between the seniors and juniors. There also seemed no real structure to the training and development of the juniors, and as like many teams in the area was being operated primarily as parental influenced football club.

During 2004 and into 2005 a number of scenario's had occurred which cumulatively led to the complete re-evaluation of the football clubs motives and direction. These were fundamentally:-

A)   The Senior Side had languished for a couple of seasons at the lower end of the Hellenic Division. Although there were the 'Hard Core' of players in the squad, there seemed a lack of motivationto drive the team forward. The senior entity of the club had almost slipped into an 'Old Boys Network' Social Club.

B) The rift between the juniors and seniors had opened to such an extent that the junior committee had all resigned and were taking the junior setup to another club.

During negotiations between the Land Owner Mr Pearce, and a newly formed committee, it was agreed that Bisley Sports Football Club needed fresh impetuous and between them with the enthusiasm for a football centre of excellence for the area the re-birth as Bisley Football Club was incorporated.

Since the summer of 2005, the transformation at Lion Park has been colossal. The rebuilding of the new luxury changing room facilities, the rebuilding and re-styling of the clubhouse and probably most important, the resurrection of a carpet-like playing surface for the pitch. This has completed phase one of the rebirth at Lion Park.

Phase two, which is due to commence over the off season, includes erection of flood lighting and covered terracing for the senior pitch as well as other alterations to bring the ground up to the required ground grading standard. This will give  a club that the local area can be very proud of.
